A CLEAR 'NO' AGAINST GAY ADOPTION

September 17, 2005

Just like the past weekend, again a demonstration to give a clear no-signal against gay adoption rights, this time organisated by the collectif 'Vader, moeder, en ik' (= father, mother, and me).
Startingplace was at the Palace of Justice in Brussels.

An adoptionchild is already an exception on itself because he or she is raised and educated by parents without a biological connection to the child in question.
By putting such a child in an exceptional familysituation, a family existing of parents of the same gender, an exception is created within an exception.
Creating such a deed can't be called something other than absurd, crazy and tragic.

Some people dare placing persons who are against gay adoption rights on the same level as extremists.
This forthcoming of their view on the world that there must be a total freedom and egality without any kind of bounds, even these of moral, a society where everything is possibe and everything is allowed.
Which kind of freedom ? The freedom to not having anymore to take in consideration norms and values in society ? The norms and values which hold the beast in everyone of us at bay, preventing it to get free reign ?
Which kind of egality ? The egality to work away the fundamental distinction between human and animal, putting them on the same level ?
No, such a madness just can't be allowed.
There isn't such a thing as having the right to adopting. An adult can never claim the right to possess a child but a child instead can claim the right to have parents ... the right to have a father and a mother.

The participants were divided in two groups : one of Dutchspeaking and one of Frenchspeaking with at the lead of each group a yellow car equiped with a soundinstallation and decorated with white and blue balloons.
I walked just behind one of this cars.
Throughout the demonstration, we gave voice to slogans such as "no adoption for gaypeople", " a father, a mother, a child", and for the humoristic note also "You want a child ? Make one yourself !".
