VB NOT WELCOME AT ANDERLECHT 3

May 26, 2007

We gathered between 3h30 PM - 4 PM in the Réne Henrystreet at the Brussels community Anderlecht with as goal a short demonstration against the arrogant mayor Jacques Simonet who sees Anderlecht as his personal backyard.
(see weblogarticles : 18th of may & 22th of may 2007).

This mayor has proven to go to the extreme to deprive the political party Vlaams Belang (= 'Flemish Interest') of the constitutional right of freedom of speech.
He had scandalised the local municipal counsillors of Vlaams Belang which had caused a heated discussion at the municipal counsil.
He had lied to the press, accussing Vlaams Belang of treachery at the signing of an accord with a private owner to rend a location for the planned political meeting.
Even when proven wrong, he stubbornly refused to annulate his interdiction for the planned meeting.

We even uncovered the fact that the Francophone mayor Simonet had abused his political position to intimidate the private owner of Sporting Anderlecht in forcing the Flemish party Vlaams Belang to go looking for a new location to rent.
The moment the mayor found out that Vlaams Belang had found a new partner for signing an accord, he convoced this person also at the city-hall and used again intimidation.
This is such an obvious abuse of power and that by a person who in his position as mayor should have the responsibility in showing how to behave as citizen !

Even the demonstration today to protest against the undemocratic not done practices of mayor Simonet was forbidden.
He had promulgated an assembly interdiction for groups that consisted of more than 5 persons.
The police, used as his personal pion, must see to it.

Thanks to the presence of many parliamentarains, the mayor coulded not prevent that more than 50 people gathered together.
Even the three local municipal counsilmembers of Vlaams Belang were present.
There was a succesfull negocation with the police to hold a short demonstration despite of the given interdiction.
On above picture, you can see in Dutch the message "A question of free opinionexpression !".

People who tought that the Fleminghating mayor of Anderlecht, Jacques Simonet, had shown the limit of his arrogance already were clearly mistaken.
He proved he had a lot more to show just before the demonstration started.
With an angry raised fist in the air he gave in a very vulgaric way expression to his anger and hatred against the Flemings that were present.
His face was even completely red owing to the fact he was drunken at that time !
He must have drunk a lot of alcohol before showing up.
That's the reason why we shouted back to him that he better got home to give attention to his whiskey instead of attention toward us.
On the picture below, you can see the angry mayor shouting some last insults before leaving the place.

In spite of warning the press of our action for democraty some days ago and how mayor Simonet had given cause to the demonstration taking place today, not a single journalist showed up.
Apparently, the Belgian media doesn't give much value to the defending of democratic values !
VB-politician Filip De Man gave a good speech at the location where the normally planned meeting would have taken place, followed by the same speech but this time given in French by politician Johan Demol because our capital city is bilangual.
The national president of Vlaams Belang, Frank Vanhecke, was also present on this demonstration.
After the protestaction was done, most of us went to a tavern to drink a glass of beer and hearded a short afterspeech by Raymond De Roover, one of the local municipal counsilmembers at Anderlecht.
