VOORPOST : MORAL SUPPORT ACTION B-H-V

February 14, 2007

The mayors and colleges of alderman (= who assist the mayors) from the Flemish arrondisement Halle-Vilvoorde organisated today a Staten-Generaal.
A Staten-Generaal is a reunion between representatives from all concerned groups discussing a specific subject.
This reunion was planned to start precisely at midday at the commune Liedekerke.
Goal was to discuss the further tactic they should adopt in the Flemish battle of trying to achieve splitting of the electoral district of Brussels-Halle-Vilvoorde (in short : B-H-V).

The Belgian Court of Arbitration, a specialised court that is exclusively competent for the review of the legal aspects of laws with regard to their constitutionality, pronounced back in 2003 that the non-splitting of the electoral district B-H-V was in violation with the principle of equality.
The Belgian Federal Government got until 2007 the time to make things right to remove this illegal excisting breach in constitutional rights.
Grace to the non-splitting of the electoral district B-H-V, the french political parties from both Brussels and Walloon can unshamefully steal votes in Flemish terrority, to be more exactly : in 35 Flemish communes and this everytime when there are federal or European elections.
It's evident that the frenchspeaking imperialists profit from this breach and hope the splitting never will take place.
More voters means more power and influence for them.

The presidents of all Flemish political parties had agreed upon making the splitting of the electoral district B-H-V a priority that should be excecuted quickly and without paying a price to the Walloon-nation in return because it was nothing more than executing what the law prescribed.
The debacle of mai 2005 proved no one of the Flemish political parties with exception of the party Vlaams Belang had the 5 minutes of needed political courage in them when facing the Walloon parties in the political arena.
Instead of being consistent from begin to end like the Flemish right-wingend party Vlaams Belang, the other Flemish parties had forgotten about their promise made to the Flemish voters after meeting some French resistance.
It became even worse !
The Prime Minister Guy Verhofdstadt (of the Flemish liberal party VLD) declared suddenly that the splitting of the electoral district B-H-V wouldn't be handled before the federal elections of 2007, good knowing that this was in violation with the declared arrest of the Belgian Court of Arbitration and also in violation with the original made government's pact.

At the last held Staten-Generaal (mai 20 of 2005) at Zemst, the mayors and colleges of alderman of the Flemish arrondisement Halle-Vilvoorde couldn't accept that the Belgian Federal Government steadfastly refused to respect the constitutional division of the nation by ignoring the arrest made by the Belgian Court of Arbitration (the highest court of Belgium).
The credibility of both government and politics were at stake by the non-splitting situation.
In fact, the non-splitting situation of the electoral district B-H-V made every organisated election illegal because of being in violation with the Constitutional Right.
That's why today a reunion of significant importance was held.

With the presence of the militantmovement Voorpost (= Outpost), our intention was to give moral support to the mayors and colleges of alderman to not give up, to give them courage to steadfastly continue. Beside of this, we also demanded to boycot the coming elections if district B-H-V wasn't split at that time. We splitted in 2 small groups and took position at both the entree and exit of the town hall.
